RQAW collaborated with the State Historic Preservation Office to determine the appropriate direction to bring the life back to this 70-year-old building. Building #5 had been used for storage in the past several years, but RQAW preserved its history by making it the control tower just as it was in the 1940s. Existing walls, floor tile, and structural glazed facing tile were maintained in its original condition, while the new windows reflect the historic small-pane grid pattern. The design included new conference and office spaces, fitness and locker rooms, and a kitchen. The construction costs were $5.7 M, and the project was completed in October 2011.
